This Privacy Policy explains how the IELTS Words Quizzes mobile application (the “App”) handles information. We have designed the App to work entirely on your device. We do not collect, sell, or share your personal information.
1. Summary
- The App does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email, or contact details.
- Your study history and progress are stored only on your device.
- Microphone audio is used in real time for speech recognition and is not recorded, stored, or uploaded by the App.
- The App contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

3. Microphone & speech recognition
To play the spoken quiz, the App needs access to your microphone and to speech recognition. When you start a session, your speech is transcribed so the App can check your answer.
Speech recognition is performed using Apple’s Speech framework. The App requests on-device recognition where the device supports it. Apple may process some speech recognition requests according to Apple’s Privacy Policy; the App itself does not store your audio or transmit it to our own servers. You can revoke microphone or speech access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security, or iOS Settings → IELTS Words Quizzes.
To work reliably in noisy environments, the microphone signal is cleaned on your device using Apple’s built-in voice processing (noise suppression, echo cancellation, and automatic gain) before recognition. This audio processing happens entirely on-device and no audio is recorded or saved.
4. Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models)
On supported devices, the App may use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models to generate vocabulary hints. This processing happens on your device. If Apple Intelligence is unavailable, the App uses its built-in, offline hint library instead.
5. Data we do not collect
We do not collect personally identifiable information, precise location, contacts, photos, browsing history, or device identifiers for tracking. We do not use cookies, advertising identifiers, or third-party analytics.
6. Data sharing
Because your data stays on your device, there is nothing for us to share or sell. We do not transfer your information to third parties. The App does not contain third-party advertising networks.
7. Data retention & deletion
Your progress remains on your device until you delete it. You can remove all App data at any time by deleting the App from your device. Reinstalling the App starts with a fresh, empty study history.
8. Children’s privacy
The App is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because no personal data is collected or transmitted, the App does not build profiles of any user, including children.
9. Security
Your study data is stored within the App’s private container on your device and is protected by iOS’s standard app sandboxing and device-level encryption (when a device passcode is set).
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, within the App or its App Store listing.
